Going to universtityWhen I started university I had no idea what to expect and none of my friends from school were there with me. I got on with my work but found it hard to socialise and found myself going in for class and then coming straight home again without talking to anyone.

After a few months I really hated it but I didn’t know what my options were so I just carried on with my work and attendance suffering.

When my first year was over, I found out I hadn’t passed enough modules to progress to the second year and faced the decision of whether to repeat my first year or drop out of university.

After thinking about it for a few weeks over the summer, I decided not to give up, and looked into changing my course to something more interesting to me. I found a course that I was really excited about and the university agreed to let me start over from the beginning on this new course.

After a troublesome first year at university I turned it around, and in September I will begin my final year before graduating. It would have been easy for me to give up, but I decided not to take the easy option. I won’t lie, it was really hard being a first year again and watching all the people I had met go on without me, but life gives us challenges to make us stronger and I am so much stronger now. I guess the message I am trying to say is ‘Don’t give up’! If you want something and Plan A doesn’t work, there is always a Plan B, you just have to find it.
