Going for gold: want to work in jewellery?
Are you aged 16 to 19? Want to receive free expert training to kick start your career as a goldsmith?
Applications are now open for the free Foundation Programme at The Goldsmiths’ Centre, the leading charity for the professional training of goldsmiths.
Each year the full-time Foundation Programme equips 10 young people with the core skills to lead careers in the trade. Students learn both traditional skills and cutting-edge technologies from Master craftspeople, with subjects ranging from fine jewellery and engraving to Computer Aided Design (CAD). 82% of past students have gone on to work in the industry, with 62% securing roles as Goldsmiths’ Company Apprentices.
“I feel incredibly privileged to have been able to study at the Goldsmiths’ Centre,” explains former Foundation Programme student Sian Hughes, “Going straight into an apprenticeship would not have allowed me to learn such a broad range of skills while also being able to sample less well-known areas of the industry.”
The Foundation Programme takes place at The Goldsmiths’ Centre’s workshops and design spaces in Clerkenwell, London, and runs from 11 September 2017 until the end of June 2018.
Short-listed applicants will be invited to interviews at the Goldsmiths’ Centre on 1 and 2 June 2017.
