Public administration

Public administration has three broad areas: central government and Civil Service; regional and devolved government; local government and non-government sectors. Despite the global economic downturn and the impact of cost-cutting measures, this sector is still a popular career choice, often offering job security and a wide variety of careers options. General skills such as team leader or managerial skills, critical thinking skills, and problem solving skills are an advantage. A degree is an absolute necessity to get a job in public administration but in many cases it would be an advantage.
