00:00:03 I’m Tracy H and I’m an Epos supervisor. I do all the daily price changes and promotions, point of sale, print off all the emails. Every morning I come in and do the price ups, price downs. Some days there’s just a few, on a Monday there are always 200-300 ups and downs. Then I go on and do the emails, check all the offers have point of sale in front of them. And I also verify the shop which is checking the products scan that the price…ticket says. That’s all recorded, that’s a legal requirement. That’s on a six weekly basis.

00:00:43 Well, five years ago, I’ve been here nearly five years. I started off on the checkouts on night time and just worked my way up. I then moved up to 30 hour contract. I was on the tills for about three years and then I got put into the cash office so I was in there. I enjoyed that. And then a year past April I was made supervisor and put into Epos, which I really enjoy. It’s my best job.

00:01:11 When I first started here I was quite shy. I think dealing with the public kind of gave me a bit more confidence and just as I’ve moved up the ladder, I’ve gained more and more confidence. Now I attend, like, management meetings on a Monday with all the other supervisors and obviously you have to speak your mind, basically. You have to speak out loud.

00:01:37 I am going on to do a Sky programme which is like a duty manager training programme, starting in January. So, it’s like a course, a six month course so I‘ll be out of the shop two or three times a month just learning different things. It was actually the operations manager who, when he does come to visit the shop, he just, he was watching me and just says I’m always running about, busy, busy, hard working so he chose me. There was three of us from this store so I was quite delighted that I’d been chosen. Basically, once I’m through the Sky programme I can actually apply for duty manager jobs because obviously I’ll have learnt everything in the shop.

00:02:22 The day I received the letter I was shocked but I was pleased, very pleased. Pleased with myself, as well. I put myself down a bit which I shouldn’t do because I mean I wouldn’t have been chosen if he didn’t think I could do it. But it will be a good thing to have behind me if I do decide, like, a smaller store job does come up. I can actually apply for it and possibly get it. I’m a bit nervous but I’ll give it a go.

00:02:50 I’m glad when I was on the checkouts and a bit bored I didn’t leave. I’m glad I stayed and I am where I am now. My partner’s really pleased for me. He said I could do it and I think, Chris, the manager, he certainly helped me along the way. He’s kind of pushing me in the right direction.

00:03:12 When I moved to Berwick five years ago the job in the Co-op was a little part time job, extra money for my weekends, my weekends out with my friends. And to think that I’d be looking onto going onto a management course five years down the line, I’m very pleased with myself, yeah. Never thought I would come this far. ENDS
