In a series exploring careers at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, we take a look at leisure provider GLL.
GLL is a charitable social enterprise and with over 6000 staff, is the country’s largest leisure provider. It works in partnership with many local authorities to run a mix of leisure centres, libraries, swimming pools, recreation grounds and world-class sports venues – all under the Better brand.
GLL at the park
GLL manage and own two venues on the park.
The London Aquatics Centre has two 50m pools, a diving pool with boards and platforms up to 10m, a dry diving zone, a state-of-the-art gym and a crèche, and plays host to a number of national and international sporting events throughout the year. The venue also includes catering and meeting room facilities.
GLL is helping to develop a range of aquatics programmes and is working with British Swimming who plan to use the centre as an international training venue for elite athletes.
The Copper Box Arena hosts a variety of entertainment, sports and community events from across the world of music, comedy, entertainment, health and fitness, sport, conferences and exhibitions. The arena also has an 80 station gym, sports hall and two studios.
