Career videos FAQ
Career videos FAQ
Content
Why are there different styles of icould career videos?
The production style of our videos has evolved over time, following user feedback. More recently, we have moved away from the jump cuts used in some of our earlier films and introduced section titles and captions. All videos remain true to the idea of personal career stories.
Are icould career videos scripted?
No. Each storyteller answers a series of questions in an interview which lasts around half an hour. We then edit the interview into the short film you see on the site.
Why do you feature videos from employers which no longer exist?
icould videos are about sharing personal career stories and experiences. These perspectives go beyond any particular employer – for example, many of the issues our speakers talk about – such as coping with challenges and barriers, making decisions and navigating a career path – are timeless and remain valid. Even if an employer no longer exists, the same role is available with a different employer. We continue to feature these videos as they continue to be relevant for our viewers.
Are you still making new career videos?
Yes but new videos are subject to funding. If you’d like to see how we could work together or would just like to explore an idea or find out more, please contact us.
What about the authorship of your articles?
We have different types of article and contributors. We label:
- Impartial articles as being authored by icould;
- Personal pieces with an individual’s name;
- Corporate pieces with both a company name and an employee name.
Where do you get your Labour Market Information (LMI) and how is it updated?
Our LMI is supplied by an automatic feed by LMI for All and is the latest available data.
How do you ensure your other content is up to date?
Our videos contain the views and experiences of the speaker in the video. As always, if you want to follow a particular career route, you need to research your options and current pathways. Careers are personal and what worked for someone in an icould video may not work for you.
We try our best to ensure our written content is up to date and regularly review key articles. Much of our content contains general, enduring advice. With anything specific, we try and signpost relevant organisations which will have the latest information – for example, in an article on university choices, rather than give figures about student finance, we link to the student finance page on GOV.UK.
